Texas Instruments Shares Rise Amid Optimism for 4th-Qtr Sales

Bloomberg News

Dallas, Nov. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Texas Instruments Inc. shares
rose as much as 6.7 percent amid optimism that strong demand for
the computer-chip maker's products will boost its fourth-quarter
sales and earnings.

''They are seeing a slight upturn in the business,'' said
analyst David Wu of ABN Amro, who rates the stock ''buy.''

Demand for chips used in modems and disk drives has risen,
which could help buoy sales, analysts said. Sales previously had
been expected to be little changed from the third quarter's $2.11
billion.
