FWIW I sold the January $17 1/2 calls today for $1 1/4 after waiting almost two years to obtain a profit. This will yield me a 12% annual return if they take my stock. I just do not see those growing revenues so that is why I sold the calls today.

Remember, the first lesson in investing is to not lose your principal. Lesson No. 2 is that if you can grow your principal by 10% per year your will double your investment capital in 7.2 years.

I hope Novell can report better than expected earnings. I will take my gain at $17 1/2 in January and stay with my SUNW investment.

Good luck to all those Longs on Novell. It has been a bitter sweet investment....

EKS

WC - FYI, this stock is attracting the attention of TA (technical analysis) folks on threads on SI. They look for stocks which are breaking out, and NOVL certainly is in that category, with big, big volume. I too am in the same position as you - just about break even, after all these years!
Schmidt should be nominated for CEO of the year. I go back into my memory bank, thinking of an e-mail I sent to Eric, asking him to consider a stock buyback. He replied (that alone I was pleased with), saying something like all alternatives would be considered. About six months after ES's reply, the buyback was announced - gratifying!
