Well done... the other one is "cooties", from "kuto", lice common on heads and other hairy places. I'm sure the troops got to know and love those little critters.

Reading the period documents on that occupation is fascinating - it was the first extended tropical campaign for the US, and the "rebels" caused a lot fewer casualties than dysentery, fever, and infected trench-foot did. There were some pretty miserable boys out in the trenches.
