A "gapper" stock will open higher or lower than the previous
closing price.

Does that mean it will go up a few points at the open or go down?

Not necessary. It could open at the high or the low from previous
day. Or a few ticks higher/lower. A few points gapped at the open
need some news.

And does that mean once it gaps up or
down that it will sustain that gap throughout the day?


Again not necessary. Stock can open gapped up but close on the
down side and vice versa.
