Without a long explanation, let me quickly say I have been in a similar position as John. It may be easy to recognize and confess the Christ in the presence of The Christ and His followers, then later on when the troubles of the flesh cause us to doubt because things didn't happen the way we expected, we desire a sign to assure and comfort. Basic human nature works this way. As Jesus said, "Keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For though the spirit is willing enough, the body is weak!""
