Alan,

I repeat: If we're not to try to be like God and Jesus, just who ARE we to try to be like? What IS the correct answer here? Or is the correct answer Alan? It looks to me like the whole Bible is in one sense a set of instructions on how to model ones own behavior upon a continuous process of comparison and adjustment of the self with Jesus. I liken it to the woodcarver, carving away all that is not of God. How could that be less than productive, and how could you take issue with it? I don't need the answer, but maybe you do.

I don't have the same attitude. My belief does not define who will and who won't get into heaven except by their deeds. Yours does. I have never called your beliefs Satanic or suggested you won't go to heaven because your beliefs differ from mine. Period.

Does it bother me to be less than God? No, not at all, that is the purpose of linear time and learning, so that we can come closer and closer. Actually, not at all isn't entirely accurate. Sometimes I do slip up and sin, and regret it for a while. I have indicated as much in previous posts. But I don't put belief in it, and let it define me. THAT would be creating Satan from scratch. Isn't this how everyone else does it? Find what doesn't work and take it out? Why does everyone who doesn't do it just like Alan have to be doing Satan's work, and going to hell?

I do not suggest the Jews are fruitcakes. I addressed a post specifically to you describing some works that I greatly respected that are Hebrew in origin, and had a profound influence on me. But you were probably so busy seeing Satan, you didn't even realize it. Don't put my reactions to Alan onto the Jewish population. And no, you aren't harming me in the least to believe as you do, until you start calling my ways Satanic, and infer that I'm going to hell. If you like my ideas, keep them. If not, just leave them. Leave Satan out of it, he's your creation, not mine. You may find yourself in life falsely branding a lot of people as antisemitic when the only person they have a problem with is Alan.

Your wife, if she is the one writing as Nancy, seems like a wonderful, intelligent, insightful person. It is beyond me why a canon of law exists just to say that she is not Jewish. What does it matter? Who cares if she's Jewish or not? If you were not the 'chosen' people, there would be no law saying that she is not. Your response sounded like the person who is accused of being racially prejudiced and exclaims,"But I have FRIENDS who are black".

Regardless of Nancy's historical background, she is obviously a fine person, and sees something in you. So maybe I'm just blind to it, and finding out why is part of my growth. Or maybe not, I don't know.

Peace,
Darrin
