Intel and possibly AMD are pumping out CPUs with production lines maxed out.

My guess is that a good fraction of this is for systems to replace old and outdated PCs/Servers that may have Year 2000 problems.

My guess is that this will accelerate in Q2 and Q3 of next year - before panic sets in.

The panic may possibly be irrational purchases - as much as irrational restraint from new system purchases. Many corporate people operate on the principle - "When in doubt, throw money at the problem".
