Bug - Re: "pii400 doesn't allow an office assistant to type or enter data any faster. this is the time consuming part of their office work "

If your secretaries only do typing, you are not getting your money's worth.

Most really good secretaries do MORE THAN ONE THING AT ATIME with a PC and FASTER PCs make this MUCH MORE PRODUCTIVE !

A good secretary will not only do standard typing, but will FORMAT documents with advanced word processors or page lay out programs (Quark Xpress or even MS Word), prepare view graphs/slides with software packages such as PowerPoint, collect e-mail IN THE BACKGROUND while doing other things, and handle budgets, forecasts and expense reports with spread sheets and data base programs, schedule meetings and maintain conference rooms, as well as prepare travel (airline ticket reservations) and itinerary plans for his/her boss.

All of these tasks are made easier and quicker and facilitated by faster, more powerful PCs.

If all your secretary does is type and a slow computer is good enough for him/her, you are definitely employing underachievers in your organization.

Maybe you should take away his/her slow computer and get him/her an even SLOWER one.

Skeeter, Secretaries, what secretaries? Weren't they dispensed with in your organization during the last two downsizings? If not, then your company has plenty of cost cutting potential. <vbg>
