Technology Stocks : Oracle Corporation (ORCL) -- Ignore unavailable to you. Want to Upgrade?

What if the DB appliance is sold by the hardware companies and not by Oracle?

Service might be from the HW vendor, from Oracle or from a new group set up for this.

Another thing that Oracle is particularly good about in its organization is that after the core software is baked, it is then fine tuned for each platform by teams devoted to each platform. Each platform group is targeted at making the Oracle software perform as well as possible on their particular platform. So, this notion of tuning, supporting and upgrading is already in the Oracle modus operandi.

Also, isn't there already a precedent for this concept? Network Appliance (NTAP) has been making a similar pitch for role-focused servers; their stock has certainly been a performer.

I'm still not sure if this thing will fly, but it is one of the more interesting possibilities for delivering additional value (through ease of use, lowered costs, etc.) for the customer.

Just my thoughts; I've bought, and will buy, some more ORCL in anticipation of the Q2 results.
