Yes, I have seen that. It's not for the general public though. It only makes sense that Dell would install software if and only if the customer base was big enough to make the support worthwhile.
I guess I would hope Dell could offer a large line of software and misc. hardware through an online store, perhaps in partnership with one of the catalog companies. They have good internet sales infrastructure and I think that could be leveraged to profit Dell and the shareholders.
