DENVER, Nov 17 (Reuters) - Internet technology company Navidec Inc. (Nasdaq:NVDC - news) on Tuesday said its Internet-based software and systems unit increased new business by 78 percent over the past six months.

Shares of the Englewood, Colo., company rose 21 percent after the news, closing up 1 at 5-3/4 on the Nasdaq exchange.

Navidec's NetSolutions Group produces Web-based software and systems, such as commercial web sites and in-house corporate communications networks.
