Wall St rises as techs rally on economy's outlook

By Huw Jones

NEW YORK, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Stocks ended higher on Thursday when blue chips paused, but techs rallied for the fourth straight session as the Fed's rate cut earlier in the week improves the economy's prospects.

''The market is in a siesta mode and is handling profit taking in a good way,'' said Alfred Goldman, market analyst at A.G. Edwards and Sons.

''The techs are the lead sled-dogs today. After the Fed action, techs directly benefit from a better economy.''

The Dow closed unofficially up 14.94 points at 9056.05. <<
