11/19/98 - Gold stock fundamentals improving -Business Week

<Picture>

NEW YORK, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Industry fundamentals are improving for gold stocks, Business Week reported in its Nov. 30 issue.

Most investors have been cautious while gold producers have endured a bear market since February 1996.

Gold producer Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM.N) will be a winner if the price recovers, said Vince Carino of Brookhaven Capital Mangement. He expects the price of gold to rebound in three to six months as the gold supply stabilizes after producing countries such as Russia and Korea finish their "panic selling."

Carino said in BusinessWeek that he expects the price of gold to recover to $400.
