Jim,

Does it appear to you that DELL is suddenly attracting lots of short sellers? If you look at the tape, it's not hard to see that the price drop is not only due to momentum players jumping off the bandwagon, but also very experienced short sellers setting up one after one upside resistance. Won't be surprised to see a 25-30% jump in short interest for Nov.. This is a bit uneasy because the tech sector is shooting straight up, but the DELL shorters seem to be determined that they have sth in sleeves. This is more serious than I used to believe (missing whisper number). Looks like that the shorters believe that DELL truly missed the number.

Believe that DELL will close at 62 9/16 tomorrow and the fat chance is that it will go down to high 50s next week.

Any opinion is welcome.

larry!

re: DELL appears to be consolidating with reduced volatility

It is just going through one of its sideways phases. I agree about the momentum players. The good news is, they are beginning to back off the Net stocks. IMO, Dell's about through with its decline. After a market consolidation over the next few days, I expect some of the momentum money to come back into it. It doesn't hurt to have had CSCO and INTC running up recently, making Dell more attractive by comparison.

A good strong base wont hurt DELL one bit. And we need to get used to some sideways trading, DELL is still the BEST!
Thank you for your message.
