Well, Hugh,
The short/long position has been an on-going one, it's more of a "box-trading" position.

I generally use equal # of short shares to hedge the same # of short puts, short calls go with the long shares. I tried to write the call/puts at price swings carefully and accordingly.

This will only work if you have a large/flexible portfolio and with small # of shares. It's been working nicely in the past 4 months, but may not be in the future. Amzn has been too volatile to play this way in the past 2 weeks.

I will not recommand to anyone, unless you have resource and experience. Sorry to be so frank, but this is still dangerous!
