Perhaps to make money for the founder, and the venture capital firm that funded it? This
venture capital firm has taken many co' public, and once taken public, most of them have
fizzled badly over intermediate timeframes. But the vc firm, Kleiner Perkins, almost
always makes good money nonetheless. On amzn, I belive their combined paper and
realized gains by now are close to $1 billion dollars, and very possibly above $1 billion.

I believe Kleiner Perkins already admits to have made a billion on AMZN. It is not over yet either.
