Selling shares is a topic on which I have written often, on many threads.
We have day-traders who sell in and out in less than 24 hours. You and I may sell in a week, month or hold for years. But within our portfolio, we WORK to maintain profit and liquidity in case of emergency. We never know what life may hold for us. Our son just married. Its cheaper to be the groom's parents...our cost: 13K. Her family's cost: 60K. If Dad had held optionable shares...that might be the best choice of funding, if not in an IRA. Life is fickle: there is cancer, divorce, education, vacation.
Because ONE officer sells..and not much, relatively speaking, as most officers of most public companies hold many shares as incentive and to keep them there, THIS SALE IS A NON EVENT.
I have been an officer of a public company, so I speak with experience and authority and roll my eyes in disgust and laughter when this topic is brought up time after time with no basis in fact as to the degree of importance.
Heck, we had an officer sell shares to maintain his lifestyle....a 52 ft ocean-going Hattaras.
You just never know, nor can judge, anothers life experiences or style....and that is what commenting on share selling is doing.......
EXCEPT...when there are many shares or many officers. Then, SELL!!
FAST! :-)
