The PCS Q-phone is not dual-band or dual-mode. It also does not appear to be offered by SPRINT on their web-site at this time. You can read about it at the Qualcomm website:
qualcomm.com

There is a different Qualcomm phone called the QCP-2700 which is BOTH dual-band (cellular and pcs, or 800 and 1900 MHz) and also
dual-mode (CDMA digital in 1900 band, AMPS analog in 800 band)

See web link
sprintpcs.com

In particular it operates
PCS band (1900 MHz) in CDMA (digital) Mode
Cellular band (800 MHz) in AMPS (analog) Mode

AMPS is the good old trusty analog system that has been around since the 80's, its the one that is EVERYWHERE in North America. This phone will work virtually anyplace in North America that any phone will work, because if anything covers an area in North America, it is AMPS.
