roq, it is one thing to buy something b/c it is cool and/or convenient. it is quite another to buy something based on productivity enhancements. i bought a pii300 (new at an auction) b/c i wanted it. i could have lived with a p200 and saved a couple hundred bucks. in no way did i justify it by saying i would be many times more productive... i just wanted the speed. at the time a pii300 was not the top tier, a pii400 was. i would NEVER buy top tier for anything i do right now. you just have to pay up too much for what appears to be a small marginal benefit. but, hey, more time at the water cooler isn't all that bad ;-)
