and Intel running out of chips is a pretty good indicator. 8)

btw, anyone ever hear from Kurlac lately? Is he still waiting for $60 to buy Intel? I had a hard time believing he didn't switch his viewpoint when it was at $68.....so little downside there and so much upside.

rich, i'm often accused of looking back. however, i always look forward. i don't think amat or nvls does anything special for 2-3 years out. the street disagrees. it see gangbusters in 1999. i don't see it. everyone is cost conscious - especially the dram players. the dram market has not bottomed yet, imho. intel and others are recycling up to 70% of their equipment from cycle to cycle now.

no semi company that i'm aware of has grown earnings since 95 or 96.

i think copper couldbe big for these guys but that might be 2-3 years out. maybe more.

i do believe that another q of bust orders and a another collapse of dram prices sends amat back down again. i'm not buying puts yet b/c the xmas will save the world story is still in play...
