Steve,

For cache touch instructions to work you need good cache querying instructions.

Cache querying instructions would be very hazardous to performance. Most caches only have one read port and a cache query instruction would stall the CPU.

Looking for a REALLY big hard drive. How about 22GB at 7,200 RPM for $599? 2MB of cache and DMA/66 are nice features. Idle power is <7 watts.
