BARCELONA, Spain--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 24, 1998--Com21, Inc.,(Nasdaq:CMTO) a leading global supplier of cable modem technology, and system integrator, Fringes, have been chosen by Cable i Televisio de Catalunya (CTC) to support the commercial deployment of its cable modem service for high-speed Internet access.

Based on Com21's ComUNITY Access(R) System, the service -- available in Barcelona since September -- is the first cable Internet service in Spain.

The pioneer of cable in Spain, CTC, with license for 1.8 million homes passed in the region of Catalunya -- has begun to brand the high-speed service as "Cablenauta" -- or one that navigates the Internet via cable.

Deployment of Com21's ComUNITY Access System allows CTC to offer multiple tiers of service to its customers, enabling the consumer to match their bandwidth needs to their budget.
