Hold Gold!
Last Signal Buy Gold 11/18/98

Ascending triangles (chart) form as buying and selling converge to an consolidation apex. The predominant resolution of this type of formation is a break-out in the direction of the previous major trend, which, for gold stocks was the September up-trend (reconfirmed in November). XAU 76 appears to now be solid support.

Technically gold stocks were impressively resilient for a Friday, withstanding slight gold lethargy and the 'Friday weakness pattern'. Gold itself is finding psychological support from demand for it for the coinage of the Euro-dollar (which will be minted in gold first, then paper currency).

Recent Buy Signals indicators have also turned up from low levels and confirm the probability that a break-out from this triangle should carry gold above $300 and the XAU toward 90. Our purchase was at 78.1.
