OT: Controllers

Boy that brought back old memories. I remember playing Star Gazer (?) using a Kraft joystick on my AppleIIe.

I totally agree, where are the handheld joysticks?

OT -- you can already achieve this. I play Forsaken with mouse in the right hand and a Cyclone 3D Joy stick in the left hand. There is and 8-way hat on top of the Joy stick which was meant to be used as a way of switching flight views. I've reprogrammed it to do the movements in X-Z plane as a 2D joy stick, and of course one uses the thumb for this. I use the joy stick's movements itself for moving in other directions rotating in Y-Z plane. The buttons on the mouse fire the primary and secondary weapons and the mouse movements do the rotations in X-Y plane and aim the weapons. The buttons on the Joy stick switch weapons, lock missiles, and perform complex moves that would require multiple movements. I am debating if I should replace the mouse with my driving wheels. Once you get used to this two handed control system, you have incapacitated yourself from playing on other people's machines. The drawback of course is that I can't type while playing. But then again, I tend to shoot first and ask questions much later <G>
