Paul,

Wow man did you get defensive. First of all I never assumed Intel was born yesterday, but these "partnerships" fall apart all the time (witness the PPC aliance). I was just pointing out that unless Intel fully understands what is going on (and I'm not saying they don't), if HP decides to pull their design engieers off the project, Intel COULD be in trouble.

I never said HP would do that, or that Intel didn't know what was going on. These joint ventures just make me nervous because they usually don't work in the computer industry:

IE:
MSFT & IBM
AAPL&IBM&MOT
and numerous others I can't remember at the moment.

Steve

<Intel owns the design> Without HP engineers
behind the project the best use of all the
RETICLES and ASSOCIATED FILES is to wipe your
*ss.

Sincerely,

Re: "By the way - ALL the Intellectual property is owned by a company called IDEA - which is a joint venture between Intel and HP. Hence, Intel OWNS THE DESIGNS as much as HP does."

This isn't going to help Intel at all if the only people capable of designing the next generation of the chip belong to HP and HP blows Intel off.

That being said, HP isn't going to blow Intel off, because they're as desperate for process technology as Intel is for competent designers.
