El: I can only assume you never took anything beyond 2nd-grade math.
OK, let's assume that CPQ spun off Alta-Vista and it was immediately valued at an identical price (not share price but total market cap) to SEEK (approx. $1 BILLION). Do you have any idea what that would be worth to CPQ investors ?? CPQ's total market cap is now approximately $58 BILLION, so if you do the math you would see that Alta-Vista would be worth approximately 50 cents a share to current CPQ holders. In other words, if they completely spun off Alta-Vista to current CPQ holders (and Alta-Vista was priced around $33 a share, since you seem to be fixated on share price as opposed to market cap), that would mean that for every 1000 shares of CPQ you currently hold, they would give you approximately 15 shares of Alta-Vista at $33, or approximately $500 worth of Alta-Vista.

Somehow, you look at that scenerio and determine that Alta-Vista alone should be worth $58 BILLION just because SEEK and CPQ are both trading at around $33 or $34 per share. It is very scary that you don't understand such simple concepts and yet people take you seriously on this board.

Jimbo.
