Greetings from the NSCP thread. We have been talking about the possibility of AOL buying NSCP and securing its own browser so that it wouldn't be dependent on MSFT and IE. MSFT seems bent on developing its own portal and MSN. What do you folks think of the idea of AOL buying NSCP??


Sorry to disappoint you, but for AOL to pay hundreds of millions to buy some piece of browser code that's freely available on the web?(see mozilla.com) AOL didn't get to where it is now by being stupid. NSCP's netcenter, maybe, but their browser? I don't think so.

If you want a buyout, talk to SUN, IBM, HP, even Compaq perhaps, there might be a better fit there. Or let try something like IBM buying Netscape, keep the browser and server shit and sell NetCenter to AOL? :-)
