Hi Bernard,

Although my info is very dated, I recall that the SF area was very problematic because of the hills and Bay. Maybe WCII has determined that it is marginally much more expensive to deploy there and is placing it as a lower priority. This would not explain the south Bay area and Silicon Valley as much, and certainly not San Diego.

Regarding advertising, I too question the use of mass channels, and was similarly surprised/outraged to see WCII spending money on 60 Minutes, etc. several months ago. To the extent it is used outside of NY and DC (to influence anaylsts/legislators), I suspect it is much more the case that it supports executive egos and, probably secondarily, sales force morale.
