John:

>>It appears that the government of Japan finds very little at fault with MSFT:>>

Come on John, this is a weak flag to wave in Microsoft's defense. Microsoft better find more and more "closed" or "semi-closed" societies to sell to. One closed pyramid to another. Get the fix in.

You know that Japanese are not known for its ability to innovate, take risks, etc. They love and respect power, especially political power. Microsoft has great political power or can bless contacts with such power.

The forces of openness and the internet are moving in entirely different directions from Microsoft and Japan,Inc.

This is a very weak argument.......

>>The Japan Fair Trade Commission

Isn't that an oxymoron? Judged by their standards, it would be hard to seem predatory <g>.

The Java judgement is a blow, as is the black cloud being cast by the doj suit. I beginning to feel this could permanently alter msft. The good news is that I am a very reliable contrarian indicator.

Long on msft and concerned,
Frank
