Thanks, as I am really drinking my coffee right now a new item came to light... What is the back ground on this spot? This is the part of interest. What got this going? As of the 1st of February, 1998, EJW has defaulted on its contract with us and we have regained rights to the software. EJW Consulting, EJW Software, and/or Ezra Weinstein or his agents no longer has rights to sell this product. URL = hoopsware.com Welcome Welcome to the site of the company formerly known as Hoopsware, Inc. Several years ago we changed our name to Technology Associates, Inc. We currently operate several retail computer stores and a custom hardware/software company (Technology Associates Special Projects, Inc.). What's up with POS? Hoopsware was originally founded in around 1991 to continue development of the Platinum/IBM POS product. We enhanced the product and released several new versions under the MMS name. A few years back we decided to develop a completely new POS product with many new features. Before this product was completed, we were approached by EJW Consulting, Inc. who offered to purchase the software and continue its development. We sold the product and it was released shortly after as Global Retailer. As of the 1st of February, 1998, EJW has defaulted on its contract with us and we have regained rights to the software. EJW Consulting, EJW Software, and/or Ezra Weinstein or his agents no longer has rights to sell this product. At present, we are not inclined to continue development or support for the product. However, we understand that the software is being used by many companies and that their businesses may depend on this software; therefore, we are willing to make the source code for the Cash Register, Posting Engines (both Platinum and Solomon), and various other utilities available for licensing. In addition, arrangements can be made for limited technical support on compiling and building the software. We have source code for the following pieces available for license: Cash Register (Platinum and Solomon) Posting Engine (Platinum and Solomon) VB POS Control (partially finished) PLTUtil/SOLUtil (File maintenance utility) UI/Btrieve C development library (Win16, Win32, real-mode DOS, 32bit protected mode DOS) What we do not have is the Manager (back office portion of Global Retailer), documentation, or installation programs. However, the manager portion can be easily written in VB. If you are interested in licensing rights for either internal use or distribution, please contact Derry Bryson or Tom Hoops at (702) 322-6875. Our Future with POS We have no definite future plans for this or other products in the POS area, however the agreement with EJW that restricted us from introducing competing products has now ended. We are now free to develop new products for the POS industry. We have direct experience in retail sales (our stores) and have developed an internal POS and inventory system as well as other software useful to retailers. If you wish to receive announcements of our future products or offerings, please email your name and address (email too) to: pos@mail.techass.com
