Casino Journal and Aztar Property Sign Agreements
PR Newswire - November 23, 1998 09:08

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CJPG) and Aztar Corp.'s (NYSE: AZR) Tropicana Resort & Casino in Las Vegas today announced the signing of a 3 year sponsorship and advertising agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. will act as a sponsor of the Tropicana's "Casino Legends Hall of Fame" which is set to open in January of 1999.

Casino Journal Publishing Group will assist the Tropicana in promotion of the Casino Legends Hall of Fame via advertising in Casino Journal publications. Casino Journal will also provide coverage of all induction ceremonies. Glenn Fine, Chairman and CEO of Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. will be a member of the Casino Legends Hall of Fame's selection committee. In return, the Tropicana will identify Casino Player magazine as a sponsor in all advertising and publicity related to the project, prominently displaying the logo of Casino Player magazine wherever possible. The Tropicana will distribute Casino Journal's consumer magazines, Casino Player and Strictly Slots, throughout the hotel including in guest rooms, at the front desk and at the Casino Legends Hall of Fame.

Separately, Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. and the Tropicana Las Vegas entered into a 3 year advertising agreement for Casino Player magazine's national edition. Under the terms of the agreement, the Tropicana Resort and Casino of Las Vegas will advertise on a monthly basis for a period of 36 months. The agreement goes into effect with the January 1999 issue of Casino Player magazine.

Casino Legends Hall of Fame will be the largest and most unique collection of Nevada gaming memorabilia ever assembled, celebrating the legends that made Las Vegas the gaming and entertainment capital of the world.

Opening in January of 1999, the Casino Legends Hall of Fame will display artifacts from casinos which have been closed for decades to the mega-resorts of today. More than 738 casinos will be represented in the museum, 550 of which no longer exist. Hundreds of framed historical photographs and documents will adorn the walls as well as other rare antiques from the state's gaming history. The Casino Legends Hall of Fame will also feature vintage audio and video news footage of Vegas' stories past where visitors once again can witness spectacular implosions, catch sold-out headliner performance and dazzling showroom productions. One will be able to trace the evolution of Nevada gaming from its legalized inception in 1931 through the present day.

"Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. is proud to be a sponsor and to be associated with what we feel will be another must see attraction in Las Vegas," said Glenn Fine, Chairman and CEO of Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. "Anyone who is interested in the casino industry will want to visit this attraction and we feel that the inductee ceremonies will most likely draw standing room only crowds. We are pleased to have our publications made available to the guests of the Casino Legends Hall of Fame as they represent the target audience that we are aggressively pursuing as the primary readers of both Casino Player and Strictly Slots magazine. We feel this is a win-win situation for both sides of the agreement and we are thankful to also sign the Tropicana in Las Vegas to a long term advertising agreement for Casino Player magazine."

Jonathan Swain, President and General Manager of the Tropicana Resort and Casino added, "Teaming up with Casino Journal Publishing Group, Inc. was a natural fit for this project. They are a proven leader in the gaming publication industry."
