Try re-installing the printer software. Make sure your paper tray is attached properly and the paper is setting properly in the tray. It that doesn't work..contact HP support online or telephone.

Lamar,
if in your software you would have a HP-672 TOOLBOX, click on it and see if you can run any of the tests available. If not contact HP. Now I on the other hand I would tear the printer apart and if I couldn't fix it I would have an excuse to buy a upgrade.

Good Luck

Lamar - re: printer out of paper problem

I use a HP670C and have run into this problem several times, usually after I reload the paper tray during a print job - two possible solutions:

1. Press the reset button on the printer - sometimes after adding paper, printer doesn't 'know' you have reloaded. If that doesn't work turn printer off then back on again

2. Check to make sure there isn't an aborted or stalled print job command confusing your printer:
-Click on Printer Icon in your Control Panel
-Click on HP Printer Icon
-If any print jobs listed, then
-Pull down Printer Menu and Purge any prints jobs

AND IF THAT DOESN'T WORK DO WHAT THE COMPUTER EXPERTS DO - REBOOT!

CJ

PS Thanks for starting this thread - it's been a great source of info

Try to unplug then plug it back in after 30sec..That trick might work on some machines, or the paper out photo interrupter or its lever might be broken. Hope that helps.
