Don has been very clear about his options trading strategies. Most of the people here are knowledgeable traders who are able to make their own decisions and weigh many opinions and much information. SI is not a place for people looking for a guru or ultimate authority to follow blindly or stupidly, and there are many ways to play the market rewardingly.
However, I just read several random posts from you and find that you are consistently rude and negative to others. I've never understood what motivates this kind of smug behavior, but the only valuable information imparted is that the writer is usually not worth reading.

I'm sorry but I missed where Don talked ANYONE out of being long. As someone who was holding OEX puts, I distinctly remember him telling me several times he didn't see where it was going to happen.

You've done this before ... is this just an attention seeking device?
If it's not just that , you are clearly missing the message. Just click next and move on, since you have such a problem with Don's forecasts. There are more than enough of us who understand what he is saying and appreciate him.

BTW - I think someone asked YOU to put up your forecast ??
We're still waiting....

Fleetwood: You have done a disservice to fellow TSO investors/traders by talking them out of going long....market has risen 15-20% since the August low and these poor souls have been left out largely because of your doing. Don't you even feel guilty? If I were you I would swallow the ego and face reality.

Well, I see your back. You joined SI September 1996. When you posted this thread last with you attacks, I noted that you have made very few post. Now you are up to (10) and all have been attacks on someone. All the post you have made to this thread have been either an attack on the thread in general are on Don.

No defense is needed for Don. The truth is so obvious, I will not reply to your accusation. You contribute NOTHING to SI. You obviously are a very sad human being. I suggest once again, this thread should pray for you again.

Regards,
LG

Fleetwood,

How much has anyone paid me for advice, so where is the diservice. If I was to jump off a bridge, would people follow.

I guess it was also a dis-service that when the market was at 9300 in JULY to get out, and at that time I was seeing weakness as early as MAR and even stated 7700-7800 range at that time.

This is also an options thread. Where were you and your bullish comments when the market was tanking - spineless.

>>You have done a disservice <<

I do not think you are being fair. It is to oneself who has to decide to go long or short and when. Donald's comments were right on target at the time. Out of 19 times we have gone up 18 of them. What would make you think this woudnt be the 20th? It is prudent to be cautious. Things havent been fixed yet, it is we just think that they will be fixed. When I went long in the early part of OCT I was fully expecting the market to take awa another 50% of my money, and I was hoping for a 25% or so gain, those are not good odds since each day it seemed like we were falling another 5-10%. Scarey days and scarey times, better to have money than to by change loose it.

Dont forget to read the entire news release..

But some experts don't buy into these trading theories.

''Investors are running out of new stories to justify the stock market's high levels,'' said John Geraghty of North American Equity Services, a consulting firm.

''Some times, the market itself needs a story and now that there's basically been no change in the economic news, people are starting to depend on cyclical data, charts, technical analysis or anything that they can cling to, to justify what they're doing in the market,'' he said.

Did you listen to him? If so, and you stayed out of the market because of it, it's called "contributory negligence" in legalese. I myself missed this rise because I felt unsure and wasn't willing to expose the funds I was managing, given the valuations and overall market conditions. To put it another way, the risk/reward ratio was unfavorable by my assessment. I'm not certain the assessment was wrong, but I was wrong by not investing. During the past 2 months I read a different thread, most of which was bearish. Sometimes I had the urge to say, "Gee, if I hadn't been reading this thread I'd have invested in the market and made a bundle." In actuality, I don't think I would have. I think sometimes we are all guilty of looking for reasons (posts and posters) which justify our actions.
