I went to two computer stores last evening looking to purchase some SDRAM chips to upgrade my memory. Anyway, as I passed the removable drive section I saw the ZIP 100 next to Syquest's SparQ. There were no sales to speak of. When the salesman came by I briefly mentioned, "Hey when are you guys getting the new ZIP 250's in?" By his expression, I must have been speaking Chinese. He was unaware that the ZIP 250 existed and said, "Wow, a 250 mb drive, interesting". I thought to myself, "What a dork this guy is", and I asked to see the store manager of Office Depot. Here came out this prepubescent man wannabe...it was funny. Anyway, I asked him the same question and he too gave me the same blank stare...stated "ZIP 250?...I dont show anything like that on my incoming inventory..are you sure?" Oh brother, what's going on here I thought. I told him I was a shareholder of IOM stock and that YES a 250 mb drive does indeed exist and that they should be getting it soon. I was just amazed that they didnt even know it existed. I got the same thing from OfficeMax....wierd to say the least. Perhaps they will both receive a "MEMO" this week. They did, however, know that Syquest was going out of business...this only after they tried pushing the drive to me and me telling them, "No way, it's a piece of junk...besides they just filed Chapter 11". "Oh yeah" they replied, "We've heard that". Geez! Makes one wonder sometimes if certain retailers favor, or get paid to favor one product over another. Salesman then began touting Imation's product to me and I then left. And to think, I didnt even ask them about CLIK! <ggg> Anyone else with a similar story? Steve LONG IOM at 8 3/8ths
