Use of limit orders seems to be the recommended way to go. I am aware of some of the reasons for this.

Problem may be that for me when conditions warrant not having the order filled almost immediately and the major part of the order first probably will cause long term profit loss.

In other words most of the times I need to get out during a time when the market is already gathering downward momentum and conditions indicate that this will continue for an unspecified, but in my opinion short term period of time.

Under those conditions I want the bulk of my sell order executed first ( the reverse would cause me to make less over the long run) In fact I want the whole thing executed ASAP.

So the use of a limit order under those conditions would seem not to be as effective.

Thoughts?
