Re Chrysler, you make a good point. Since I own a Nissan pickup, I'm in denial that Nissan could be having troubles <g>.

I guess Japan's government is better positioned than I to determine if companies have great ideas to implement, but lack access to capital to move forward.

My personal take is that if they've screwed up so bad that they can't finance their operating plans, then some other enterprising soul will fill the niche they can't. Government spending should be limited to projects too large for individual companies to manage the risk, ie bringing water to the Sahara or Building an International Space Station.

L3-

<<some injection will be required at some time .... We did the same with Chrysler and despite the rantings by many ... >>

Speaking of rantings- you seem to think to can criticize an idea by impugning its spokesmen without even addressing intellectual content. As if Chyrsler's outcome with "lemon socialism" was particularly significant in terms of the moral justification and economic sensibility of coercing taxpayers into funding bungled companies. You lack intellectual precision and integrity.

Larry

P.S. I'm jaundiced enough to believe the main reason Chrysler was bailed out was an unsuccessful effort to re-elect Jimmy Carter. Perhaps you favor the bailout of the politically connected?
