I agree ! But please come down, first, oh to 58 or 60 or so.... I need to buy some more shares..... I love Microsoft, Intel, and Cisco as well , so I hope I can safely say this, and not get too caught up in hype. Welcome to the NEW Gorilla Tech Stock, the consolidator of the Unix world, and a big player in mainframe replacement systems. HP IBM SGI and even a bit of MSFT, all have been railroaded by this one lately, and once a freight train gets started in this business, it acquires... VELOCITY... Intel in Microprocessors Microsoft in Applications and OS Cisco in Networking... GE Financial in non-banking financials. I honestly believe SUNW has become a NEW gorilla, something that does not happen often in this business, and barring massive incompetence (whihch they have not done yet..), we have seen a new Gorilla being born. Mark my words. Someone please file this message, and let's talk 1 year, 3 yaer and 5 year hence. Point 1: It's Unix is now almost a standard now... SCO/ Ultrix AIX are all also-rans now. Only Linux has a chance now, and solaris is ahead. Point 2: I am less attached to the Sparc chip, thank god for Merced which Solaris will support. It's bets are made on the 2 major chips left. PPC, PA-RISC, MIPS, all also rans.. Point 3: Absolutely KILLER StarFire mainframe series, which is hurting all old-line mainframe and server vendors. Even cheap and profitable low cost workstations ... HP, IBM, SGI, all have stumbled and are either finished or hurting. Point 4: Java is mostly hype, but good hype, and gives them MAYBE a software royalty stream. Point 5: Storage, I don;t know too much about it, apart from that they are in the business and not a leader. Another profitable segment though. Point 6: set-top devices Vs microsoft is going well, and both can prosper here. Last Point, 7, the internet is built on Sun machines and Cisco networking gear, and once a freight train starts, very, very hard to stop or even slow down.... Ohh and I forgot, once a company gets it ALL right, everybody tries to get a job there, or does not leave... Ask Cisco employees if they want to leave.... yeah right..... I know the answer. Ask Ashton-Tate, Wordperfect, Novell, Borland and other assorted wrecks once Microsoft got the train on the rails. Welcome to the party boys. We have seen the birth of a new gorilla, which will hopefully make us VERY comfortable. Bye for now Take care Jean
