XCIT and Real Networks in deal:

Excite Search Service to Be Featured on RealNetworks' Software

Redwood City, California, Nov. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Excite Inc., the No. 2 Internet search and navigation service, said RealNetworks Inc. agreed to include its service on RealNetworks' software for broadcasting sound and video online.

Excite said Internet users also will be able to search for images, sound and multimedia clips using Excite's new audio/video search service on RealNetworks' new RealPlayer G2 software. RealPlayer G2 is available as a free download from www.real.com.

Seattle, Washington-based RealNetworks has forged several distribution agreements in recent weeks with top online and software companies such as America Online Inc. This latest agreement allows Redwood City, California-based Excite to reach a broader audience of Internet and software users. ''By being the only search service shipping with the final version of RealSystem G2, we are aligned with the industry leader in media delivery on the Internet, giving us important brand exposure to a growing market of consumers wanting richer media experiences on the Web,'' Excite Chief Executive George Bell said.

RealNetworks has more than 80 percent of the so-called streaming audio and video market, analysts said.

Excite fell 9/16 to 50 13/16 on Friday, while RealNetworks rose 1 3/4 to 39 7/8.
