Aurado receives drill results from Mexican properties Aurado Exploration Ltd AEO Shares issued 41,308,610 1999-01-14 close $0.065 Friday Jan 15 1999 Mr. William Dickie reports Cominco Mexico, S.A. de C.V, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cominco Limited, has completed seven diamond drill holes totalling 1,927 metres on the Amapola, Venaditas and Piedrotas properties. These are three of the eight properties in the joint venture. The drill program was designed to investigate various targets defined by geophysical and geological programs. AMAPOLA The four holes on Amapola were mainly to test geophysical anomalies developed over a five kilometre by three kilometre area in the northern part of the claim. It was considered that volcanic stratigraphy favourable for volcanogenic massive sulphide type mineralization was present at shallow depths. These four holes yielded geologically surprising results; the first being that the stratigraphic section intersected was almost entirely in sedimentary rocks. No volcanic rocks similar to those outcropping a few kilometres to the north were seen. Sufficient pyrite and/or pyrrhotite (4 per cent to 6 per cent) were observed in the four holes to explain the induced polarization and magnetic anomalies. The second surprise was to locate the presence of brecciation, alteration and anomalous lead, zinc, silver, arsenic, tin values in the two eastern holes (AM 02, AM 03). The breccias are best developed in AM 02 between 30 and 230 metres and in hole AM 03 between 60 and 270 metres. Anomalous Pb, Zn, Ag values were best developed in AM 02 between 95 metres and 285 metres. The best eight intervals, between one and six metres in length, are given in the following table. Highest values were 2.3 per cent Pb, 1.9 per cent Zn and 122 parts per million Ag. Mineralization is associated with galena and sphalerite in stockwork type veins and breccias. Hole AM 03 contained high As (3,100 ppm) and high Sb (233 ppm) associated with silicification between 243 and 274 metres. It would appear from the evidence in holes AM 02 and AM 03 that these holes are in the vicinity of a heat source. This area is characterized by higher resistivity and lower residual gravity values and should be tested for Ag, Pb, Zn mineralization. VENADITAS Two holes were situated on Venaditas to test gradient array and dipole-dipole IP anomalies with chargeability similar to that obtained over the San Nicholas discovery. The area is underlain by sediments and volcanics containing altered rhyolite porphyry. This environment is considered favourable for VMS style mineralization. Hole VE 01 was also situated over a combined magnetic and gravity anomaly. No significant anomalous values were obtained in either hole. The gravity anomaly remains unexplained but enough pyrite was found to explain the IP anomaly. Hole VE 01 was entirely in sediments but VE-02 intersected in its upper part 140 metres of rhyolite, intermediate to mafic volcanics and microdiorite. It appears that a downfaulted block of volcanic stratigraphy is preserved on the southern part of the Venaditas property. Consideration may be given to further drill testing of the E-W belt of anomalous gradient array IP that straddles the volcanics. PIEDROTAS One hole was drilled on the property to test a dipole-dipole IP anomaly at 150 metres depth. The area showed mafic and felsic volcanic outcrops on surface. Unfortunately, this turned out to be no more than a "skim" of volcanics and the hole intersected a sedimentary section with 3 per cent to 6 per cent pyrite, enough to explain the IP anomaly. RECOMMENDED WORK ON GARABATO Reconnaissance gravity and airborne magnetics on the eastern part of the garabato claim (one of the other five claim groups in the joint venture) an area with coincident gravity high and a magnetic anomaly. Follow-up gravity, magnetics and IP should be done. (c) Copyright 1999 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com
