No. Once we had a whole bunch of computers *upgraded* from 386 to 486 machines. After the upgrade the machines seemed to be about the same or worse than before the upgrade.

My guess is there are a lot of variables and interactions that are not addressed.

What are your bottlenecks and what are you trying to achieve? What are you using the machine for? Generally the best upgrade is a RAM increase.
