I agree that the Arab media might be a bit biased, but as I recall from reading from the incident, that the Vincennes AEGIS system did, indeed, mistake the airliner for an Iranian F14. That is why I posted it. And if you read the entire article, I didn't post where the "opinions" of the writer.
