AMZN has mind-share. Many people start there and never get any further. People trust
them. Also its partly the same reason AOL persists--many people do not outgrow it. You
and I outgrew AOL. Millions don't. Your idea is logical, but I have difficulty reconciling
it with AZMN's "instant market domination" in the music CD-ROM sector. When AMZN
gets to $2 to $4B in annual sales (year 2000) their economies of scale will make it
difficult for all but a few to compete with them.

Tom,

I believe the newbies will not start there. For example, BKS is the exclusive online bookstore on AOL. More newbies use AOL than any other ISP.

<<<or a store with better selection and cheaper prices>>>

I dont think there are any, if you are talking about land-based stores.

BKS has this online.
