Dulles, Virginia, Nov. 22 (Bloomberg) -- America Online Inc., the No. 1 online service, is in talks to buy Netscape Communications Corp. for more than $4 billion in stock, people familiar with the negotiations said. > Thoughts on how this might affect Microsoft's positioning of IE? Combinations like AOL/Netscape might take the steam out of arguing that Microsoft is out to control the desktop. This doesn't seem like bad news for Wavephore, but I think Microsoft's going to have to help enhance Wavetop, regardless of however they view the implications of a possible AOL/Netscape partnership.
