Frederick -
Come on, fess up, who do you really work for?

Are you claiming that some ambulance-chasing lawyers (who by the way have been milking this same scam for at least 5 years that I know about) represent a sea-change in the industry? Get real. These guys advertise in the papers for anyone who can help them file a class-action nuisance suit.

geez, they got 10 guys to complain on this one. They got a lot more than that for the last bunch of these that they did, guess this particular scam is about played out.

They're the ones building NT 5.0.
Do you have any idea of the number of developers working on NT5, or how many of them are temps? Or are you just talking through your hat? I doubt that you can get the numbers right within a factor of 10.

The hope of every Temp at MSFT is that somehow they can get enough experience and make a good enough impression to land a permanent job. And there are still lots of permanent positions available. It's not surprising that the ones who don't make the cut feel second-rate - they are.

Frederick - Just in case my last couple of posts have given you the impression that I am an unabashed Microphile, I should mention that I am not now nor have I ever been an employee of Microsoft, and no significant portion of my income derives from Microsoft, except as a holder of MSFT stock.

Likewise, I do not agree with every Microsoft business practice or technology direction, quite the opposite. I have been involved in a number of negotiations with Microsoft over the years, and they are difficult to deal with and very tough across the table. But no more so than Oracle or even General Motors.

It is possible to strongly disagree with MSFT and what they are doing and still have a facts-based discussion - in fact this is the essence of good debate. Some posters to this and related threads who have managed this feat, along with some recent posts, include:

There is a difference between contrary opinion and outright propaganda. The first stimulates exploration of the facts, the second attempts to bury them.
