Greg -
Do you think there application(s) posses a threat to DELL?
As Michelle and others have pointed out, Dell is pretty much designed to execute on their model, the other majors are not. Putting fat tires and chrome exhaust on the family sedan does not turn it into a formula 1 race car.

What it will do (if successful) is reduce the advantage on the distribution and sales side by providing at least the customer benefits in delivery and configuration.

Also, does DELL uses AI in any of their strategies be it on the net or elsewhere?

I believe that Dell uses AI elements in their customer service system to link problem descriptions with past solutions. This is more of a 'knowledge-based expert system' in the jargon of the industry, but draws on many of the same principles.

Michelle could probably tell you if the supply chain management uses any AI - that has been another area where some work has been done over the last few years but I don't know specifically about Dell's use of those techniques.
