i had to pick a broker that didn't clear though southwest.

Len, the breakeven point between MBT and JPR is around 25 tickets per month. At that point, the fixed cost of JPR is incrementally eaten away, and the lower commissions get more and more relevant. I figured out that for 200 trades per month, JPR would be about half the cost! (about $2000 vs $4000).
