Dennis:

Good advice about getting a backup ISP... I'm currently looking at AT&T and mindspring...

As far as the Netcom/SI problem went; I only experienced slow response times with SI... Other sites were fine... So, I have to conclude that the problem was somehow SI related since it only occurred on SI... Regardless, that's now ancient history since the response times are now back to normal again...

Dennis, I do something similiar. I have a cable modem
but kept an MCI dialup acct. as a backup. When World
Com took out MCI, Cable and Wireless tookover MCI's internet
service. C&W charges $14.95 for up to 150 hours and
offers it's internet customers cheap long distance, .07 weekdays
and .05 weekends. You only get a cyber bill and your credit card
is automatically charged. The only restriction is you got to make
$10 worth of long distance or else they tack on $5.
