But positive results were always being observed. Nobody ever thought they were telling lies. It was just always really, really inconsistent with everything known about nuclear processes. Which is quite a bit, it's not an area that was neglected in the last 60 years or so. Everybody always had some new thing that showed excess heat, and nothing else.

I'll check out the Wired article when it goes online, but I wouldn't buy platinum futures just yet, or was it palladium? They've probably gone through all the noble metals by now.
