Somebody's got to ask rudedog about this one. I'm perpetually confused between his version of the sacred icon war and both the press accounts and the evidence from other vendors, like this. He's certainly got inside information and sources, but there's a consistency problem here. Beats me.

Cheers, Dan.

Apparently Bill just exploded at John Malone Wed., as part of their scheduled one on one meeting, threatening to bury this company, buy cable operators, and do whatever it took to crush @Home since we are obviously so anti-microsoft that it's criminal. Apparently, even by Gate's standards, it was a scalding conversation...

Just thought you'd be interested. We just can't understand why he's so agitated about @Home - we're no threat to them! Amazing.

Thanks,
Milo

Shell Integration: The Internet is a part of Windows. We will bind the shell to the Internet Explorer, so that running any other browser is a jolting experience. Shell/Browser user model becomes the same.

Co-Opt Top Sites. We should consider purchasing or co-opting the top sites (StarWave?) and having them use our content. We should give JonL/RSegal the mandate to do this; they would be responsible for enticing the best sites to use our content by whatever means necessary.

There's also a bunch of documents where Microsoft seems obsessed at pinpointing Netscape's sources of revenue. Not just browser sales, but deals with ISPs, their 'Search' button, packaging with Intuit and Corel, etc.. Gates is personally involved in all of this. Kind of fits in with a more expansive version of "cutting off their air supply."
