Hard to disagree, but perhaps to clarify....."They are on cocaine"
would be perhaps not comparable but not entirely inaccurate..

More so it is much easier to define "Russian" than "American" and especially so after collapse of the USSR (great many people took offence at the name-calling that Russian meant to them (Take Baltic countries or even Ukrainians as an example)

I consider myself American, but great majority of my friends say that they have a Russian friend....even some of my children's friends say that about my children, and they were born here and can hardly speak Russian (my fault :)}

As for Political Correctness it is as much American trait as any other...may not be so bad as it does make people more tolerant, if not for absurd form that any excesses tend to take shape...
